Course Description

The Day Skipper (shorebased) theory course can be attended by those who would like to progress to being able to skipper a yacht in coastal areas. A comprehensive introduction to the basics of seamanship. Invaluable for learning how to start making decisions on board and if you are considering taking the Day Skipper practical course. Course content; Seamanship Coastal navigation and pilotage Chartwork Electronic charts Position fixing Plotting a course to steer Weather forecasting and meteorology Tides Collision regulations

Course Prerequisites and Requirements

Prerequisites

Some practical experience on sailing or motor vessels is desirable. No previous navigation experience is required.

Requirements

The duration of the course is 40 Hours plus home study and 3 hours for Assessments. A certificate is awarded on successful completion of the course.
